What are the basic requirements to work with Staff Relief?
Each facility may have unique requirements, but here are the general qualifications needed for travel and per diem assignments:
- At least two years of experience in your specialty, preferably in an acute care setting.
- An active professional license for your discipline.

Travel
How far in advance should I apply for a travel assignment?
There’s no wrong time to apply! Some clinicians apply months in advance, while others are ready to start within days. If you’re considering a travel contract, we recommend filling out your application as soon as possible. This allows us to match you with opportunities quickly when you’re ready to take an assignment. Our team will stay in touch to keep you informed of openings that fit your needs and timeline.
How long are travel assignments?
Most travel clinician contracts are around 13 weeks, but durations can vary. Some facilities offer shorter or longer contracts, depending on demand. Flexibility is one of the best parts of travel assignments—after completing an assignment, you can take a break before starting your next one. Your recruiter will help you find contracts that fit your schedule and lifestyle.
Does Staff Relief offer local and per diem opportunities?
Yes! In addition to travel assignments, we offer per diem shifts and local contracts for clinicians who want flexible work without traveling. This is a great option if you’re looking to supplement your income, gain experience in different facilities, or maintain control over your schedule.
