American College of Surgeons rolls out ‘find a hospital’ tool

A new online resource from the American College of Surgeons allows patients and physicians to locate hospitals that meet the group’s standards for high quality surgical care.

The “Find a Hospital” tool enables users to search for facilities that the ACS has accredited or verified across one of 13 quality programs on an interactive map. Results can be filtered by quality area, including cancer care, pediatric surgery or bariatric surgery. 

Hospitals earn ACS accreditation or verification by undergoing a rigorous, data-driven review process that evaluates compliance with evidence-based standards. Facilities typically pursue accreditation to signal a commitment to surgical care excellence, with programs linked to improved outcomes such as fewer complications and shorter hospital stays.
