Temple Health opens new maternity hospital
Philadelphia-based Temple Health is opening a new women’s and family hospital to expand labor and delivery care, WHYY reported Aug. 18.
Temple Health performs an average of 2,000 deliveries each year, the majority of which occur at the system’s main campus hospital. Now, most of those services will be shifted to the Women’s and Families Hospital in North Philadelphia.
The hospital includes 32 private postpartum maternity rooms, a 41-bed NICU and an eight-bed intensive care unit, in addition to radiology, behavioral health, OB-GYN, pediatrics and cardiology services. The hospital will provide both inpatient and outpatient services and anticipates employing about 385 people.
Some outpatient services are open, and inpatient services will open Sept. 3.
