Boston Children’s launches AI lab

Boston Children’s has launched one of the first labs to use AI to diagnose and manage pediatric heart conditions.

The new Congenital Heart Artificial Intelligence Lab brings together cardiac specialists, computer scientists and data experts to advance tools such as AI-powered echocardiograms. The lab also incorporates data from Boston Children’s six decades’ worth of medical records and heart images.

“We’re lucky to have so many experts here in Boston,” said Boston Children’s cardiology fellow Joshua Mayourian, MD, PhD, in an Aug. 12 Boston Children’s article (he started the lab with cardiologist John Triedman, MD). “But we can’t send them everywhere. Our goal is to use AI to share what we’ve learned and help improve heart care for kids everywhere.”
