Healthcare job growth slows to 21,500 in June: 4 things to know

Healthcare added 21,500 jobs in June, slowing down from the average monthly gain of 38,000 over the past year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Here are four things to know from the July 2 jobs report:

1. Hospitals added 9,200 jobs in June, up from a revised 6,800 in May.

2. Ambulatory healthcare services added 8,000 jobs, including 3,300 in home health care.

3. Nursing and residential care facilities added 4,300 jobs.

4. The U.S. economy added 57,000 jobs overall in June, with continued gains in professional and business services, social assistance and healthcare.
