PeaceHealth appoints president of care delivery and value

Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth has appointed Imelda Dacones, MD, president of care delivery and value.

In this role, Dr. Dacones will lead clinical operations across the 9-hospital system, with a special focus on improving the clinician experience and aligning care models with the organization’s three-year transformation strategy. Her appointment is effective Sept. 15, according to a Sept. 9 news release.

“In her new role, Dr. Dacones will help accelerate PeaceHealth’s bold journey to become a truly integrated health system that delivers a person-first, value-driven and highly trusted care and employment experience for all,” Sarah Ness, incoming president and CEO at the system, said in a statement. “Dr. Dacones has a proven track record of driving strategic transformation and will help break down care delivery silos, streamline decision-making, elevate the caregiver experience and advance the performance excellence needed to shape the PeaceHealth of the future.”

Dr. Dacones has spent more than 20 years in healthcare leadership roles. She most recently served as president and CEO of Optum’s Pacific Northwest market. Before that, she spent five years leading Northwest Permanente, the physician group for Kaiser Permanente in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

PeaceHealth said additional leadership appointments are expected in the coming weeks. The changes follow a leadership transition announced in July, when longtime CEO Liz Dunne said she would retire at the end of the year. Ms. Ness, formerly executive vice president and chief administrative officer, was named her successor.
