Northwell Health featured in Discovery Channel episode

Northwell Health, based in New Hyde Park, N.Y., partnered with Flying Cork Media to produce an episode of Tomorrow’s World Today that highlighted the emerging field of bioelectronic medicine.

The episode, titled “Revolutionary Research,” aired Aug. 23 on the Discovery Channel and Science Channel, according to a Northwell news release.

The episode examined how electrical stimulation and advanced technologies may activate the body’s natural healing processes.

A key focus of the program was vagus nerve stimulation — an area of research showing promise in treating diseases marked by uncontrolled inflammation, including multiple sclerosis, lupus, cancer and diabetes. The episode aimed to increase public awareness of scientific breakthroughs occurring in Northwell’s labs.
