Mississippi hospital interim CEO to step down
Gary Marchand, interim CEO of Greenwood (Miss.) Leflore Hospital, will step down Jan. 1.
Mr. Marchand led the hospital in attaining rural community hospital demonstration status, according to a Sept. 4 news release from the board of commissioners shared with Becker’s. He took over as interim CEO in 2022.
“I returned on an interim basis to help the hospital through turbulent times in the post-pandemic period,” Mr. Marchand said in a statement shared with Becker’s on Sept. 5. “Now that the hospital has achieved RCHD status and financial stability, I feel the time is right for the hospital to move forward with the recruitment of a permanent CEO to serve the hospital in the coming years.”
The RCHD status will provide additional revenue for Medicare inpatients and create the opportunity for new revenues with the launch of a swing bed service line, Mr. Marchand said in a Sept. 3 memo to staff.
Mr. Marchand previously served as interim CEO from October 2019 to mid-October 2020, a hospital spokesperson confirmed to Becker’s.
