Massachusetts opens medical supply warehouse
The Massachusetts Department of Health has opened an emergency supply warehouse, aiming to strengthen health system supply operations in times of crisis.
The 75,000-square-foot facility, located in Franklin, Mass., has more than 21 million items, including personal protective equipment, bandages, dressings and refrigerated medical products, according to an Sept. 4 news release from the department.
The warehouse is set up with a high-capacity layout with more than 4,000 pallet positions across three tiers, including 1,000 square feet dedicated to cold chain storage for temperature-sensitive medications. There is also data logging technology to support real-time tracking and inventory integrity, the release said.
