How patients rated 11 cancer hospitals
Between July 7, 2023, and June 30, 2024, Houston-based University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center had the highest percentage of patient rating scores at 9 or 10 among all cancer hospitals exempt from reporting to Medicare’s Inpatient Prospective Payment System.
Eleven cancer hospitals are required to participate in the PPS-Exempt Cancer Hospital Quality Reporting Program, a specialized quality reporting program established in 2010 by the ACA.
The reporting program includes CMS’ HCAHPS survey, which allows discharged patients to share feedback on the care provided by the hospital. As part of the survey, discharged patients are asked to give an overall rating of a hospital on a scale of 1 to 10.
All 11 hospitals had a higher percentage of patient rating scores at 9 or 10 compared to the national average of 72%.
