Essentia exec heads to UnityPoint hospital

Madison, Wis.-based UnityPoint Health-Meriter has named Karyn Baum, MD, chief medical officer.

Dr. Baum previously served as chief transformation officer at Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health. She stepped into her new CMO role Sept. 3, according to a system news release shared with Becker’s. 

She will continue to work as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine and the University of Minnesota School of Public Health.

“I am honored to join the team at UnityPoint Health-Meriter and to have the opportunity to contribute to an organization that is deeply committed to the health and well-being of its patients,” Dr. Baum said in the release. “I look forward to working with the exceptional team of healthcare professionals at Meriter as we continue to improve patient outcomes, care delivery, and overall community health.”
