Emory taps chief counsel for health affairs
Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare has appointed Gina Bertolini as chief counsel for health affairs, effective Sept. 1.
Ms. Bertolini brings more than 20 years of experience as a healthcare regulatory attorney representing hospitals and health systems, according to an Aug. 29 health system news release shared with Becker’s. She will lead Emory Healthcare’s legal team and provide guidance on legal and regulatory matters.
She most recently was a partner in the healthcare practice group at K&L Gates in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Her previous roles include deputy general counsel at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she represented Michigan Medicine, and associate general counsel at the University of North Carolina Health System in Chapel Hill.
Ms. Bertolini succeeds Emory Deputy General Counsel Elizabeth Clark Morrison, who has served as interim chief counsel for health affairs since September 2023. Ms. Morrison will transition to a new leadership role supporting Emory University and continue managing faculty, resident and employment issues for the school of medicine and health system.
