Arizona hospital CEO to retire following extended absence
Roland Knox, CEO of Mount Graham Regional Medical Center in Safford, Ariz., will retire in the first week of October, Eastern Arizona Courier reported Aug. 29.
He took an extended leave of absence in May due to a health issue, and Chief Medical Officer Bart Carter, MD, was then named interim CEO.
Mr. Knox told attendees at an Aug. 27 community luncheon at the hospital that his absence was due to a stroke he suffered on April 21, the Courier reported.
He joined Mount Graham Regional Medical Center in 2000, left to work at Northern Cochise Community Hospital in Willcox, Ariz., for a few years, and returned as CEO in 2019.
Becker’s has reached out to Mr. Knox and will update this story if more information becomes available.
