UT Medical Center expands partnership with college of nursing
UT Medical Center has expanded its longstanding partnership with the University of Tennessee Knoxville College of Nursing by investing in a new facility and additional scholarships for students.
Four notes:
1. Over the past five years, the institutions’ collaboration has supported a 24.5% increase in nursing school enrollment, according to an Aug. 25 news release.
2. UT Medical Center helped fund the new UT Medical Nursing Building, which officially opened Aug. 25 and replaces the college’s former facility on the same site. The 117,000-square-foot building triples the previous space and includes simulation labs, a 250-seat lecture haul, modern classrooms and wellness areas.
3. The expanded partnership also includes new scholarship funding to reduce financial barriers for nursing students and help attract top talent to the profession.
4. The UTMC Nurse Scholars program, created as part of the broader partnership in 2022, first supported students in the college’s 12-month accelerated BSN track. It has since expanded to include more than 140 traditional BSN students starting this fall, with plans to add support for RN-to-BSN pathways as enrollment grows.
