Texas system CEO to step down

Bernard Leger, CEO of Victoria, Texas-based DeTar Healthcare System, plans to step down from his role Sept. 5.

Mr. Leger has served in the role for more than five years, advancing quality and services, according to a health system statement shared with Becker’s on Aug. 13.

During his tenure, he oversaw the recruitment of new providers and the launches of the DeTar Cancer Center and the DeTar Medical Group Primary Care Clinic East on the Texas A&M University-Victoria campus.

Work is underway to appoint an interim CEO before Mr. Leger’s departure, the statement said.

DeTar Healthcare System includes two hospitals and is part of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.
