
Las Vegas hospital appoints chief medical officer
Las Vegas-based Sunrise Hospital named Sherrie Somers, DO, as chief medical officer, effective Aug. 18, 2025, according to an Aug. 20 press release.
Dr. Somers brings 30 years of healthcare leadership experience to the role, including four years with HCA Healthcare. She most recently served as CMO of HCA Florida’s North Florida Hospital, a 523-bed facility in Gainesville.
During her tenure at HCA Florida, Dr. Somers led multiple teams including quality, risk, pharmacy, and graduate medical education. She also helped launch the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program and was involved in building a cardiology fellowship program.
Before that, she was CMO at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., where she achieved a 98th percentile physician engagement ranking.
