Former Mayo Clinic CIO joins Aegis Ventures

Cris Ross, who served as CIO of Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic for more than a decade, has joined New York City-based Aegis Ventures as a venture partner, according to an Aug. 27 news release.

Mr. Ross retired from Mayo Clinic in November 2024 after leading the health system’s $1.5 billion Epic EHR migration and establishing AI partnerships with Google and Microsoft. He also expanded Mayo’s virtual care services during the pandemic and continues to serve as a senior advisor to Insight Partners. His prior roles include CIO of CVS MinuteClinic, executive vice president at Surescripts, and CIO of UnitedHealth Group’s behavioral health division.

Aegis also named John Driscoll a venture partner. Mr. Driscoll previously held leadership roles at Walgreens Boots Alliance, Castlight Health, Medco, CareCentrix and Surescripts.

Both executives will assist with company creation and portfolio strategy at Aegis, which partners with entrepreneurs and health systems to develop health tech startups, according to the release. The firm collaborates with a consortium of 11 major providers and has launched five AI-powered companies to date.
