Cleveland Clinic to advise on new Uzbek hospital

Cleveland Clinic and Central Asian University have agreed to collaborate on the development of Central Asian University Hospital in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The hospital will be built on CAU’s expanded medical campus, and construction is scheduled to begin this year, according to an Aug. 27 news release from the health system. It will be a 120-bed facility capable of serving up to 269,000 patients annually.

As part of the collaboration, Central Asian University Hospital is a provisional member of the Cleveland Clinic Connected program, which offers members access to Cleveland Clinic’s branding, consultative services and education opportunities, according to the release. Hospital leaders are taking steps to meet the requirements for full membership.

As part of this long-term strategic agreement, Cleveland Clinic will provide guidance to CAU in areas such as healthcare facility design and medical education and residency programs. The partnership also supports the establishment of a nursing school and simulation center.

The agreement aims to provide the hospital with Cleveland Clinic’s guidance on physician recruitment, supply chain management and digital transformation.

Cleveland Clinic is a 23-hospital health system with 82,600 employees worldwide.
