AdventHealth taps Florida hospital COO

AdventHealth Altamonte Springs (Fla.) has named Katrina Vargas Mesa, BSN, as COO.

Ms. Vargas Mesa has more than 19 years of experience at Altamonte Springs-based AdventHealth, including more than 12 years in nursing and operational leadership, according to an Aug. 18 news release shared with Becker’s.

She most recently served as executive director of nursing at AdventHealth Orlando (Fla.), where she oversaw seven inpatient nursing units totaling 276 beds, as well as respiratory therapy and dialysis operations, leading more than 1,000 team members.

She previously held leadership roles at AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, including director of nursing for the ICU, progressive care, dialysis and respiratory therapy units.

In her new role, she will focus on team member engagement, operational efficiency and patient-centered care.
