
25 women stepping into their 1st CEO role in 2025
Since March 14, Becker’s has reported on 45 women named CEO of a hospital or health system.
For 25 of them, it marks their first time serving as a healthcare CEO, according to Becker’s coverage and LinkedIn profiles.
Below is a list of those appointments.
Editor’s note: This list includes permanent and interim CEO appointments. Leaders who assumed interim CEO roles in 2024 or earlier are not included.
1. Tiffany Means, DNP, RN, was appointed CEO of Eureka Springs (Ark.) Hospital, effective Aug. 1.
2. Colleen Pawlik, MSN, was named interim CEO of St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Ill., in July, and will continue serving as Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare’s regional vice president of nursing operations.
3. Emily Chapman, MD, was appointed president and CEO of Minneapolis-based Children’s Minnesota, effective Aug. 2.
4. Sarah Ness, executive vice president and chief administrative officer of Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth, was named president and CEO, effective Jan. 3.
5. Aimee Keller-Pickford was appointed CEO of AdventHealth Winter Garden (Fla.) in July.
6. Anne Gunther, DNP, RN, was appointed CEO of Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg, Ohio in July after serving as interim CEO for three months.
7. Jita Pandya Buño appointed CEO of the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, effective Sept. 1.
8. Jane Russell, PharmD, was appointed president and CEO of Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs, Va., effective Aug. 25.
9. Jennifer Liter, DNP, RN, was appointed CEO of Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Ky., in June.
10. Christy Jordan, BSN, RN, was appointed president and CEO of Brunswick, Ga.-based Southeast Georgia Health System, effective June 1.
11. Rosenda Barrera, MSN, RN, was appointed interim CEO of Prime Healthcare’s Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Ill., in addition to her role as chief nursing officer, in April.
12. Tamar Kutz was appointed interim president and CEO of Decatur (Ill.) Memorial Hospital, effective May 25.
13. Misty Robertson, DNP, RN, was appointed CEO of Blue Mountain Hospital District, which includes a 25-bed hospital located in John Day, Ore., effective June 25.
14. Cheryl Cioffi, DNP, RN, was appointed president and CEO of Frederick (Md.) Health, effective July 1.
15. Rachael Prather, BSN, RN, was appointed CEO of Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, Ill., in May.
16. Amber Deardorff, BSN, RN, was appointed president and CEO of Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa, effective Aug. 1.
17. Julie Covault, COO of Sidney, Ohio-based Wilson Health, was appointed acting CEO in April.
18. Kaitlan Baston, MD, was appointed interim CEO of University Hospital in Newark, N.J., effective May 3.
19. Jodi Coombs, BSN, RN, was appointed interim president and CEO of St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia in April.
20. Misty Jones, MSN, RN, was appointed president and CEO of Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley in Pleasanton, Calif., effective June 9.
21. Kim Needham was appointed CEO of Waukegan, Ill.-based Vista Health System in April.
22. Victoria Hanson, PhD, was appointed regional president and CEO of Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, S.D., effective May 3.
23. Michelle Waller, MSN, RN, was appointed CEO of Granite City, Ill.-based Gateway Regional Medical Center in April.
24. Kathy Vancampen was appointed CEO and market president of Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg, Ky., and Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, Ky., effective April 7.
25. Diana Richardson was appointed interim president and CEO of Lawrence (Mass.) General Hospital and Holy Family Hospitals, effective April 14.
