
Health system settles MyChart lawsuit for up to $9.25M – Becker’s Hospital Review | Healthcare News
St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare has settled a class-action lawsuit with users of its MyChart patient portal for up to $9.25 million.
The plaintiffs had alleged the 24-hospital system transmitted patient data from MyChart to Facebook, Google and other tech companies without the individuals’ consent. The health system has agreed to set up a settlement fund of $5.5 million and pay up to an additional $3.75 million based on the number of claims. Preliminary approval for the settlement was granted in May with a final approval hearing set for October.
BJC HealthCare did not admit to any liability or wrongdoing. Becker’s reached out to the health system for comment.
