Fellowship equips nursing leaders with financial acumen

In April, the Commission for Nurse Reimbursement began training the first cohort of nurse leaders in its Fellowship in Nursing Economics, according to a news release shared with Becker’s.
The fellowship is a first-of-its-kind program that empowers nurse leaders to “drive transformative change within the healthcare system and better define the value of nursing” through an in-depth understanding of the healthcare industry’s financial dynamics, the release said.
The inaugural cohort includes 44 nurses in leadership roles. The fellowship combines online learning with live lectures and mentorship, which cover nursing economics, healthcare leadership, advocacy and entrepreneurship.
The application process for the second cohort will open in early 2026.
Editor’s note: Scott Becker, the publisher of Becker’s Hospital Review, is a lecturer in the fellowship program.
