Clinician EHR satisfaction improves: 5 notes

Clinician satisfaction with EHRs has improved from 11% in 2011 to 87% in 2025, Black Book Research reported.

Here are five things to know from the health IT researcher’s July 11 report based on surveys of 130,000 hospital-based clinicians since 2011:

1. 90% of clinicians believe their EHRs support their actual clinical workflows, compared to 14% in 2013.

2. 24% of clinicians cite EHRs as a burnout contributor, down from its peak in 2017.

3. Clinician satisfaction with EHR training rose from 9% in 2012 to 88% in 2025.

4. Clinician participation in redesigns, optimizations and pilots increased to 48% from 39% in 2023.

5. 77% of clinicians feel included in digital health decisions, up from 4% in 2011.
