
Children’s Minnesota names 1st female CEO

Emily Chapman, MD, has been appointed president and CEO of Minneapolis-based Children’s Minnesota, effective Aug. 2, according to a health system news release shared with Becker’s.
Dr. Chapman will succeed Marc Gorelick, MD, who is retiring after a 42-year medical career. Dr. Chapman will also be the first female president and CEO in Children’s Minnesota’s 100-year history, according to the release.
Dr. Chapman has served as senior vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer at Children’s Minnesota since 2017. She previously served as vice CMO and director of the hospitalist program.
“Having been with this remarkable organization for nearly 20 years, I have witnessed firsthand the unwavering commitment to excellence and the profound impact we have on the lives of the children and families we serve,” Dr. Chapman said in the release. “I look forward to working hand in hand with the dedicated kid experts across our system to build on this strong foundation as we continue to innovate, grow and uphold our mission to provide exceptional care for all kids.”
Children’s Minnesota is one of the nation’s largest freestanding pediatric health systems, with more than 60 pediatric specialties offered through its two hospitals and numerous specialty centers and clinics.
